2 Bedroom/Office conversion from Stables

Gustard Wood, Hertfordshire

An existing timber framed stable building was converted by Claridge & Hall to create a two bedroom home with two office spaces and reception area.

Project Facts

A lean to extension and a separate garage building were added and new slated roofing was installed for the whole building.

A new interior structure was created in steel with visible oak beams and glass stairs. Claridge & Hall drilled a borehole and installed a sustainable borehole heat return system to provide underfloor heating and drinking water.

Solar Voltaic panels were installed on the roof as part of the environmentally friendly heating system.

The exterior environment was landscaped.

In 2021 we commissioned Claridge and Hall to convert an agricultural barn into a 4 bedroomed eco home for us, using renewable technologies throughout. The project was delivered on time and on budget. The workmanship is of a very high standard and there have been no major difficulties. We have enjoyed a very constructive relationship with all their staff and have been impressed by their attention to detail. Rob Claridge directly oversaw the work and listened carefully to our requirements, even when we changed our minds!  A specialist renewable technology company worked along side the builders and our architect; together they have created an energy efficient structure that is attractive and easy to run. Positive comments have been received from friends and neighbours about the overall appearance and its harmony with the landscape. We have every confidence that they would address any problems, even after the end of the project should that be required.

We are delighted with the end result and would highly recommend Claridge and Hall.
